About Flopay

What is Flopay?

Flopay is a Guyanese payment service that lets businesses accept card payments on a wireless POS terminal. It is run by FlowCatalyst Technology and Consulting Inc. (FTC Inc.), with Demerara Bank Limited as our sponsor bank.

How will a POS terminal benefit my business?
  • Grow your sales: customers often spend more when they pay by card instead of cash.
  • Attract more customers: tourists and visitors prefer to pay by card, so you won’t miss their sale.
  • Build trust: digital records help you track sales and can make it easier to qualify for loans or bank support.
What does handling cash cost my business?
  • Lost sales when customers run short of cash or leave to find an ATM.
  • A slower checkout, and customers who walk away when a competitor accepts cards.
  • Time spent counting, and mistakes when balancing the till.
  • The risk of keeping large amounts of cash on the premises.
  • Missed spending from tourists and business travellers.
Do I need a Demerara Bank account?

No. Flopay works with any local bank account, so you keep your existing banking relationship.

See the full sign-up guide.

How long does registration take?

From a complete application to a working terminal usually takes about 10 business days. In that time we set up your merchant account, prepare and test your device, and book a time to install it and train your team.

Do you train my staff?

Yes. We train your team in person when we install your terminal, and we can retrain new staff online at any time.

Payments and settlement

What cards can I accept?

Visa and Mastercard debit, credit and prepaid cards, issued in Guyana or abroad. Customers can tap, insert or swipe.

When do I receive my money?

Card sales are deposited into your bank account on the third business day after the transaction. Your monthly settlement statement lists every payout.

How do I receive my card payments?

We link your existing bank account and run a test transaction to confirm everything works before your terminal goes live.

How do I see my sales?

Your merchant dashboard shows every transaction as it happens, with daily, weekly, monthly and yearly totals. Each terminal also keeps a record, so your cashier can balance the day’s takings.

Do I need Wi-Fi?

No. Every terminal comes with an Enet data SIM, so it stays connected without Wi-Fi. It can also use Wi-Fi when available.

Fees

Is there a monthly fee?

It depends on the plan. Long-term rental is GYD 5,000 per month plus a transaction fee (MDR) of 2.5%–2.9%. Daily rental is GYD 500 per day plus 2.9%. Event services are quoted per event. Compare plans.

What is the MDR?

MDR stands for merchant discount rate. It is the percentage of each card sale charged as the transaction fee. It covers the costs of the banks and card networks that process the payment.

Security and regulation

Is my data safe?

Yes. Flopay terminals are Visa PCI DSS compliant, and our systems are protected by firewalls and VPN connections.

Is Flopay licensed in Guyana?

Yes. FTC Inc. is a locally registered company operating under Demerara Bank Limited’s banking licence as a payment facilitator. We are registered as a Business Service with each card network we support, and the programme was reviewed by the Bank of Guyana.

Who do I complain to if I have a concern about Flopay?

Contact us first and we will work to resolve it. If you are not satisfied, you can raise it with Demerara Bank Limited, 214 Camp Street, North Cummingsburg, Georgetown, or write to the Bank of Guyana, Lot 1 Church Street and Avenue of the Republic, Georgetown. How to make a complaint.
